Registration FAQ (Coldwater Minor Hockey)

PrintRegistration FAQ

How will I know if my child has been accepted to play this year?
You will receive an email showing registration.  In time you will be forwarded a receipt/invoice for registration fees.  As we get closer to the season your player’s coach will be in touch by phone or email.

When do I need to register my child for the next hockey season to avoid a late payment fee?
You can register your child online by July 30, 2020 in order to get the advantage of the early registrant fee. Registering by that date helps us to plan the correct number of teams for each division. There is not a late fee but rather an Early Bird discount.

How much does it cost?
U5 - $450
U7 - $500
U8, U9, U11 - $600.00
U13, U15, U18 - $625.00.
If you register before July 30th 2020 and pay a minimum of $50.00 deposit then you will receive $100.00 off the above quoted costs.

Can I pay with cheques?

Yes by mail if you prefer.  Please send to

Coldwater & District Minor Hockey Assoc.
Box 336
Coldwater, ON
L0K 1E0

Registration fees can be paid on-line using your playpay.ca account.

Can I pay with cash?
No - for security and tracking, we do not accept registration payment by cash.

Can I pay in installments?
Please pay in full at time of registration if possible, to help reduce administration. We understand that registering multiple players can present a sudden financial burden so we do accept payment plans with all funds being paid by November 15 2020. For split payment, we require a minimum payment of $50 at registration then you can split your payments as needed over the summer ensuring that it is paid in full by November 15th.

The payment method (playpay.ca) allows you to make installment payments based on your needs. Through playpay.ca and your banking institution you can set up weekly or monthly payments.  Please use this option if needed.

I have registered and paid what now??
If you have not completed the Parent Respect in Sport that is the next step. If you click under Registration to the Repect in Sport tab it will take you to the program.  The program takes about an hour to complete at a price of $12.00.  This course is one per family so can have multiple children on one completion and it is a one time thing as well.
There is also the Rowan's Law information that needs your attention under the Registration tab as well.  Please read the attached information and acknowledge that you have done so that it will be marked as done on your player's file.

What provisions are in place for COVID 19?                                                                                                                   The COVID 19 Pandemic has many changes coming our way and although we are still unsure at this time, we will update all members as soon as the OMHA send down their rules and safety protocol.  If our season sees changes to games, practices, ice time etc it will be reflected in your account.

When will I be contacted as to what team my child is on?
We generally have ice for September at an out of town location and then in Coldwater after the Fall Fair.  Until we receive the outline from the OMHA we are unable to confirm. Please check the website regularly.

When does the hockey season start?

In a normal year all teams, except Tyke, begin games in October. Tyke teams begin games in December. Keep an eye on the coldwaterwildcats.ca for schedules and firm dates.  With COVID 19 we are unsure of the start of games. If the season is reduced it will be reflected in your account.

Can I specify a certain coach or team that I want my child to play for?

No. Our policy is to ensure that players are playing at the appropriate level and that our teams are balanced. Limiting players to selected coaches restricts this objective. We encourage all participants to benefit from the knowledge of all coaches and coaching styles. Please see the Policies, Procedures and Code of Conduct if you have concerns about any team officials.

Can I request that my child play with his friend for car-pooling purposes?
Yes. You may make that request and we'll do our best to honour it. Please note that the request will not always be honoured. Our policy is to ensure that players are playing at the appropriate level and that our teams are balanced. Grouping players sometimes restricts this objective. If wanting to make a request please send through to Operations chair Andrew Awrey this is the only accepted method.
[email protected]

What documentation do I need if I want to coach?

What time are games played at?

Games will be scheduled on weekday evenings, typically starting after 5pm and during the day and evening on holidays and weekends. Younger players generally play at earlier times and older players generally play at later times. Games may be at home or in other Georgian Bay league centres.

What time are practices held?
Every team usually has at least one practice per week. U5, U6 practices are usually scheduled on weekend mornings. This will not be definite until September.

I am moving to a new home.  What address do I put on the form if we have not moved yet?
Please use the address that will be current on October 1, 2020 when registering. Please email your new address to registrar
[email protected]  If a player's address changes after registration. It is the member’s responsibility to notify Coldwater Minor Hockey in the event of a move or change in address or contact information.
