Coldwater Minor Hockey has
been chosen by
John Stark & Company Insurance Brokers, partnered with Peel
Mutual to be the recipient of a side of prize winning beef!!! Please keep an eye on the website as the
beef will be auctioned online.
The prize winning steer, a
Charolais/Angus cross, was purchased at the Royal Winter Fair earlier this
November. Presented by Jackson Rose of Elgin County, this 1310lb steer
was champion in his class (all colours hip height 53 ½” to 58 ½ “). The
beef is being cut and wrapped into packages of steak, roasts and hamburger or
pot roast for the less tender cuts at Highland Packers in Stoney Creek.
Many hockey clubs have been struggling to keep their programs alive in small rural centres like Coldwater due to lack of funds to support the purchase of ice time, payment of officials, insurance, team uniforms and equipment as well as the expense of extracurricular sports for lower income families. Many of our policyholders grew up playing small town hockey and love the idea of keeping our youngsters active. Peel Mutual and John Stark and Company are happy to provide this opportunity for them to use the beef to raise funds to support this important and valuable part of our community and our Canadian Heritage.
A very big thanks goes out to John Stark & Company and Peel Mutual!
