Coldwater Wildcats Atom2 win coveted Georgian Bay Triangle Local LeaguePool A ChampionshipWith momentum from the Wildcats’ Ottawa March Break Tournament win, the Coldwater Wildcats Atom 2 Local League Minor Hockey Team entered Round 2 of the GBTLL Pool A Playoffs. The Wildcats were faced with an uphill battle against more experienced opponents, the Elmvale Coyotes Atom 1 LL Team.

In the second and final round of playoffs, the Wildcats played a three game series against the previously unbeaten Coyotes ultimately winning the coveted GBTLL Pool A Championship.

 The Wildcats were led by a powerhouse offensive group. Graham Richardson(#10), Nathan Ross(#11), Jaxon Booth(#8), Brody Carpenter(#99), Isaiah Marson(#97), Kailey Booth(#2), Holden Jaensch(#4) and Riley Whitley(#29) were able to battle their way through Elmvale’s defensive line. Cole Thornton(#75) was assigned the task of shutting down Elmvale’s top scorer providing an unselfish performance to support the Wildcats defensive line. Tosh Smith(#22), Jakub Coghlin(#93), Hope Anderson(#7), Larissa Cooke(#37) and Gavin Van Niekerk(#17) were able to shut down Elmvale’s offensive line. The Wildcats showed defensive excellence back checking their way to the championship title. Goalie extraordinaire Callum Newland proved to be a force in net for the Wildcats always having the team’s back.

The Wildcats have been punching above their weight class all season long and when the dust settled, the Wildcats had earned the championship. They improved as the season went on to finish their final 15 games with a 14-1 record that included 2 tournament titles. The Atom 2 Wildcats were a truly resilient and determined group of players who consistently performed as a team.
